ABOUT THE CLF

My photo
Everywhere, No where
I started the CLF as a joke on Ravelry, back in July of 2007. The joke was on me, we're a real group, that seeks to liberate ourselves from stereo types about our craft and ourselves. Other than being called "Fearless Leader", I'm a designer, mother, editor, wife, hand spinner, yarn addict, incessant reader, and over all geek in the coolest of geeky ways.

Beware Defamers of the Hook!

Beware Defamers of the Hook!
Like Joan of Arc, and the Scarlet Pimpernel we are here to seek Justice!

More about DA Book!

Ok, I got the first proof back today (the one I knew I would have to edit again due to a jpeg resolution issue)...

WOW it looks like a real live book people! I'm very happy with the layout, the paper quality, and the print quality (where I didn't under-resolve graphics...)...

The next proof should be here in a week...and once I'm satified with that, we'll have the book up for sale! Fingers crossed....I have to say I'm very happy with the imprinter...

I'm so ready it's not funny! So folks, in Portland at the CLF Booth hopefully I will have the correct proof, but if not I will have the first sample proof (which is a little different) and we'll at least show how clean and awesome the layout is!

And we'll have post cards!! Now let's see if I can get more t-shirts ordered in time ;)

Da Book...

The Book will be released after the Fall Show in Portland...I have ordered the proof, but I'm not sure all of it is going to print as clear as I would like to see it print...so I'm redoing the book (formatting and sizing etc) to ensure that our wonderful CLF Minions are displayed as they deserve...

I am indeed a strange kind of perfectionist, especially when it comes to those I care for...and I really do love all of my wacky, creative, soulful, and inspiriting CLF Members...Really I do! So, we're re-formatting the book...(Yes, I do have it memorized by now :) ) and it will by perfect when it's printed!!!

In the meantime what will I have for show in Portland for the Knit and Crochet Show?

T-shirts and buttons and keychains and some samples from the book :) Postcards and well, the chance to meet myself and my family and I get to meet you! Head on Down to the Oregon Convention Center Sept 12-14 for a rockin' good time :)

Let's make some noise!

More information about the book :)

While I wait to hear back from the imprinter about the files that I finished uploading last night (resolution, etc etc....computer jargon...blah blah blah...) Let me give you inquiring minds some more information about the book...

It is a 198 pages (yup I cut two pages out, don't worry only my writing got cut, and it wasn't my chapter on yarn substitutions, so it's all ok...just fluff that could be removed...I had to remove them to reduce the file size of the book for the upload requirements)....full cover...36 patterns, plus articles and inserts, and even CARTOONS!

This is not a "how to learn to chain" crochet book. There is no list of basic stitches, each contributor wrote the patterns their way, and if they had special stitches included instructions with those...We do have a fabulous tutorial on Crochet Jacquard by our very own CLF Guru, Laracroft (aka Danielle Krasner) it is not only words but photos too! (Thanks to her hubby for the great photos!)

This book is by crocheters and for crocheters, from simple ideas to complex and delectable, it's amazing!

When can you buy it? Hey I'd love to answer that question, unfortunately I don't know just yet, hopefully I will hear today about that very information, and as soon as I know I will let you know!

It will be available for online sales, and will have a list price of $37.99, we have a special CLF Member price of $29.99 but you'll have to go to our group on ravelry to get that special code :)

Not bad for a 8.25x8.25 full color 198 pages... as soon as we know dates, you'll know ;)

JanSmiley you are duly awarded the "Hookalicious Award" for cool crochet!

The whole cover :)

Okie dokey...here's the whole cover that will give a little sneak peak into what is inside, but it's only the tip of the iceberg approx 30 patterns, plus ARTICLES (useful ones too!)... The white square is where the ISBN number goes :)

This isn't one of those "how to learn the basics" this is for those who experience crochet, live crochet, and love crochet...everything from simple ideas to complex and fabulous!

CLF BOOK UPDATE, Portland, and a nice link...

Ok, the book is kinda almost sorta done. Just doing some editing, and putting it into a pdf package and then WOOSH uploaded we will be! WHOOT!

I have to say I am so excited about this, CLF Members should be very proud of their accomplishments, submissions, and this fine tome that we have produced together...

The papers are signed/sealed and delivered for the The Fall Show in Portland Oregon...what is this fall show? Why it's the Regional CGOA meet up! If you can come please do! We have a booth, we'll have t-shirts and buttons, and keychains, and postcards, and fingers crossed a book or two!! Come by and see us!

Last but not least, check out this very sweet story from Florida. Before you read it though, let me tell you that those who put down crochet because the elderly do it, need to understand one thing, those old folks didn't learn it when they were old... There is nothing wrong with being a Mama, or a Grandma, or a Great Grandma those are just stages in life. I dare anyone to tell my Calvin Klein wearing 90 year old Grandmother that she's out of vogue! LOL...

Seriously though, read this story, warning: have tissues at the ready.
